Walking Holidays in Slovenia

If you've never been to Slovenia, now is the time to visit. Discover this fascinating country on a walking adventure that will take you up into the jagged limestone peaks of the Julian Alps and into Triglav National Park. Staying in a traditional 19th-century alpine pension in the medieval town of Radovljica, you'll be guided through forests and along mountain paths to discover the Špik mountain range, Martuljek Gorge and traditional towns and villages on this week-long adventure. This is a great introduction to adventure travel and offers guests the chance to slow down and enjoy more a meaningful travel experience.

The glacial lakes of Bohinj and Bled have to be seen to be believed and are best enjoyed off season before the summer crowds arrive. This small group European walking holiday takes in cold water lake swims, wild meadows, waterfalls and wild open mountain ridges. An experienced local guide will share their knowledge, making you fall in love with this enchanting country and everything it has to offer. Holidays to Slovenia don't get much better than this and enable first time visitors to experience an authentic way of life and Slovenian hospitality, food and drink.

Sandwiched between Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary, Slovenia is somewhere that's definitely worth some of your time. When I visited I was taken aback by the beauty of Lake Bled and the incredible Velika Planina plateau, one of the largest herdsmen’s settlements in Europe. Just getting up to the settlement on the cable car was a journey in itself. I was surprised that I hadn't heard more about Slovenia and have since encouraged many clients to go and visit the country that's home to a population of around 2 million people. The cosmopolitan capital of Ljubljana is also a delight, and a place where you can easily spend a few days. Add some time on to the end of your hiking holiday to really enjoy its charms.
